(Original Caption) A gala ball at the Park Hotel is Estoril, Portugal was the climax to a two day coming out party for infanta Maria del Pilar, the 18 year old daughter of Don Juan, pretender to the Spanish throne. More than 2,000 persons, including many of Europe's former royal families attended the affair. Thirty-three Spanish, Portuguese, and other white clad debutantes who had been presented to Don Juan earlier watched from a gallery as the infanta was presented. This general view at the ball shows infanta Maria entering the great hall just behind her parents, Don Juan and Princess Maria Merces. Behind the infanta is Prince Juan Carlos, 16 year old son of Don Juan.
